Dance students impressed the crowd with a range of dazzling performances
Hundreds of students from 35 primary and secondary Catholic schools from across the Diocese showcased their creative talents in a series of music, dance and strings performances throughout June, culminating in the ‘Best Of’ performance on 23 June.
The showcase events demonstrated the high calibre of choral, music and dance work from Catholic schools, under the Parramatta Diocese’s creative and performing arts initiative, CAPTIVATE.
The program provides learning and performance experiences for students, as well as builds expertise and a sense of community across the system.
CAPTIVATE is very popular with five new schools joining the program since last year.

🏆 St Anthony’s Shines at NSW Chess Semi-Finals! ♟️ Last Thursday, a team of 10 represented St Anthony's at the semi final of the NSW Chess Championships. We played against some very difficult competition and needed to use all of our strategy and skill. We came 3rd overall which means our top five players have qualified for the finals. Dharshan also received a medal for an outstanding individual performance. Well done team! We are very proud of your achievements. 🎉👏

💙 Father’s Day Liturgy 💙 After our wonderful breakfast we came together as a school community to celebrate a special Father’s Day Liturgy 🙏. 📅 Today the school and vice captains went to St Patrick’s Cathedral ⛪ for the 2025 Education Mass, joining all the other primary and secondary representatives 👩🎓👨🎓 from schools in the Parramatta Diocese. The Mass 🙏 celebrated all the achievements in the diocese 🌟, and even Bishop Vincent led the celebration! ✝️ What we enjoyed the most ❤️ was learning how other schools put their faith into action ✋✨ and follow in God’s footsteps 👣. Students participated in a prayer service 🙏 led by Faith in Action students and Fr Joby. Catholics believe that Mary was taken up into heaven by God ✨, not just her soul, but her whole body too, because she was so pure and full of grace 💖. We learnt how Mary is a model of: 🌸 M – Mary is the Mother of Jesus 👶 — and also our spiritual Mother. 💞 A – Act with Mercy. Mary was kind and gentle to everyone 🤝. 📿 R – Rosary. When we pray the Rosary, we think about the special moments in Jesus’ life ✝️ and remember Mary’s love ❤️. 🌟 Y – Mary said ‘Yes!’ to God 🙌.

♟️ St Anthony’s girls participated in the NSW Girls Teams Chess Challenge! ♟️👧✨ The girls competed in teams of three against other school teams.🏆 They had lots of fun 😄🎉 and learnt new skills and chess moves. 🧠💡 There were two divisions: Rookies (K-4) 🐣 and Primary (5-6). 📚 👏 Congratulations to the Year 2 team who came 🥉 in the rookie division! 🎉 Well done to all the girls who attended 🙌💖.
